Campaign and advocacy teams need to know what is working and what people are discussing.

  • Internship
  • United States
  • Company base Edison, NJ

Campaign and advocacy teams need to know what is working and what people are discussing. You will help track performance and public conversation and explain what the results show and what they do not.

What you will do

  • Collect and organize performance data from approved sources.
  • Code public posts and published survey results by topic and tone using a written guide.
  • Write short, balanced summaries that state method and limits.
  • Check every figure against its source.

Example projects

  • A weekly performance summary
  • A topic and tone summary of public conversation on a defined issue

What you bring

  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a degree in marketing, statistics, communications, political science, or a related field, or equivalent project work.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets; strong written English.
  • No prior campaign or professional internship experience is required.

What you will deliver

A performance report and a method note

What we do not expect

  • Prior internship experience, or a name-brand employer on your CV.
  • Knowing the tools, rules, or vocabulary before you start.
  • Certainty. Saying what the evidence does not support is treated as a strength, not a gap.

How the internship works

Interns report to a named project lead, meet on a set weekly schedule, and receive written feedback on each deliverable. The internship runs for 12 weeks on a defined timeline with four milestones, and the final assignment, schedule, and supervision are confirmed in a written internship agreement before work begins. On completion, interns receive a certificate of completion, and a letter of recommendation reflecting the project lead’s assessment is available. Work is evaluated on accuracy and traceability of sources, clarity of writing, responsiveness to feedback, judgment about what to escalate, and disciplined use of approved AI tools.

Intern work is operational and nonpartisan. Interns prepare drafts and analysis; nothing is sent to the public, to voters, or to supporters without approval from an authorized team member. Interns do not send messages on their own, do not make public statements for the company, and do not give legal advice.

Data and AI use

Interns work only with data they have been explicitly authorized to access. Client-confidential files and personal information about supporters, donors, or voters must never be uploaded to public or unapproved AI services, shared outside the project team, or stored on personal accounts or devices. AI tools may be used only where the project lead has approved them for that task, and all AI-assisted work must be independently verified before it enters any deliverable. The intern and the project lead remain accountable for the final result.

How to apply

Send your resume and a short note naming one role responsibility from this description that you would like to work on, and why. First-round interviews are with the project lead who would lead the work.
